The best way to find a good tea shop is to stumble upon it. And the best way to stumble upon something is to wander aimlessly. And a good place to wander aimlessly is Belgravia. I discovered this on Sunday, and I also discovered Peggy Porshcen.
This is somewhere that is so practically perfect in every way that it is essentially Mary Poppins in teashop form. Or is it a Stepford wife of a teashop? I don’t know, but from the outside, it is pretty and pink. Inside, everything is pastel shaded and perfect. The cakes are perfectly baked, perfectly sliced and perfectly presented. The tea was served in perfect colourful pots and poured into perfect colourful cups.
And it gets better. Ginger tea. Yes, you read that correctly.
Cloud nine is about right.
And (skip ahead if you are not ready to feel a little star struck), according to their website, “Peggy has acquired an enviable client list including many celebrities, Royals and members of high society. Her cookies and cakes have graced many A-list events such as the 2011 wedding of Kate Moss and Jamie Hince, Elton John’s White Tie & Tiara Ball, Stella McCartney’s wedding, Sir Anthony Hopkins’ 70th birthday, Damien Hirst’s auction at Sotheby’s and parties for Sting and Trudie Styler, Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow”.
